explanation
Whenever I draw a figure, I tend to be happier with the sketch than with the finished product. I think this is because what I like most about the sketch are the scribbles that result from not getting it quite right the first time around... and once I realized this, I decided I should just make the scribbles part of the finished product.
Now I like the result more than the sketches.
